Everything is better with Goats!

Hiking and Events with the cutest companions.

The Best of Both Worlds!

My name is Tara and I am the proud owner of Double S Ranch and Guided Goat Hikes.

While working in the legal field, I yearned for a more fulfilling and hands-on career. That's when I discovered my love for goats. I was immediately drawn to their playful and curious nature, and I knew I wanted to work with them in some capacity.

I began working with animals by showing horses with the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) circuit, but eventually found my way into the American Dairy Goat Association (ADGA) lifestyle. I fell in love with these intelligent and lovable creatures, and I knew I wanted to share my passion with others.

That's when I decided to start Double S Ranch LLC d/b/a Guided Goat Hikes. In the beginning, it was just me and my goats out on the trails, exploring and having a great time. As I learned more about the pack-goat community, my love for it grew even more. I started acquiring goats from people who couldn't or didn't want to keep them, and I quickly noticed that they all had a love for hiking, especially the 200-pound Alpines. It was amazing to see the joy on people's faces when they encountered these gentle giants on the trails. This is what inspired me to start offering goat yoga and happy hours with baby goats, as requested by the community. And now, here we are, spreading joy and laughter with our furry friends.

Our company offers a variety of experiences that allow people to interact with goats in a fun and unique way. From Baby Goat Yoga and Baby Goat Happy Hour to Goat Hikes and special events, we offer something for everyone.

Thank you for choosing Guided Goat Hikes. We can't wait to share our love for goats with you!

Essex & Vincent can be bred to does outside Double S Ranch. We also sell some goats. See details below.

Meet The Goats

  • Descant

I am the QUEEN of the farm. I have an extensive show history and lots of ribbons! I have to admit, I have no interest in learning how to hike. I much prefer the luxurious life of a Princess and being a mother to my three children. My daughter, Rouge, is my pride and joy, while my twin boys, Targaryen and Stark, keep me on my toes. I also have my niece, Marley, living with us, making our little family even more lively. As the head hauncho in the girls Alpine Goat field, I can be a bit bossy at times, but don't let that fool you. If you call my name, I will come right over for some pets and attention. After all, even the biggest Diva needs some love and affection.

*Registered with the American Dairy Goat Association. Will be birthing babies in 2025, which will be up for discussion.

  • Marley

I am proud to be an Alpine goat. Unlike many of my fellow goats who are dwarfs, I am a full-sized and strong goat. My profession is packing, and I absolutely love going on more challenging hikes. I am always up for a good adventure and I thrive in tough terrain. What sets me apart from the other goats is my love for people of all ages. I am a friendly and sociable goat, and I love to greet everyone with a big smile. Whether it's children or adults, I am always happy to make new friends and spread joy. My unique personality and love for adventure make me a one-of-a-kind goat.

*Eligible to be registered with the American Dairy Goat Association

  • Buttercup

I may come off as a quiet girl, but don't let that fool you. I have a lot to offer, despite often being overlooked due to my reserved nature. While others may prefer a faster pace, I find joy in taking things slow. One of my favorite things to do is walk with little kids. Their energy and curiosity bring out the best in me, and I love to match their leisurely pace. I may not be the most outgoing or attention-grabbing, but I am content with my peaceful and gentle nature.

  • Bruce - For sale in May

I am named after the one and only Bruce Wayne. I may not have his superhero powers, but I sure do love cuddles and people. I mean, who doesn't? I am a social butterfly on the farm and you can often find me attending all the baby goat happy hours. Let me tell you, those are my favorite events ever! But my excitement doesn't stop there, I am also thrilled to start in the hiking program. I get along with everyone on the farm, and I can't wait to make new friends on our adventures. So, who's ready to hit the trails with me? Let's go!

I'm a lively and playful baby goat who loves to spread joy and happiness wherever I go. My owners say I’m too friendly and that I’m a puppy at heart. I have the important job of hosting Baby Goat Happy Hours, where I get to interact with other adorable baby goats and make sure they're having a good time. My family is pretty cool too - I have a sister named Penelope, a caring mom named Ophelia, and a strong dad named Essex. We all love to play and explore together, making each day an adventure. I am a proud member of the Baby Goat Happy Hour team. I may be the most quiet and laid back baby goat, but don't let that fool you - I absolutely love all the attention and head scratches from calm kiddos. As a Baby Goat Happy Hour employee, I am always ready to spread joy and happiness to all our guests. Whether it's snuggling up for a nap or playing a game of tag, I am always up for a good time. So come say hi to me and the rest of the baby goats at our happy hour and let us show you just how much fun we can be!

  • Nugget

You might recognize me from my bright blue eyes, chicken nugget colored coat, and adorable waddles. I am a proud employee at Baby Goat Happy Hour, where I love to greet and play with all the customers. My unique appearance and friendly personality have definitely made me stand out among the other goats at the farm. I love meeting new people and making them smile with my silly antics. Working at Baby Goat Happy Hour has been such a fun and rewarding experience, and I can't wait to continue spreading joy and happiness to everyone I meet!

  • Precious

Growing up, I was definitely known as the biggest pain in my herd. I was always causing mischief and getting into trouble. But as I've grown older, I've become much more easy going and laid back. Now, I'm the one who will hike with anyone and everyone. I don't care if it's with adults or kids, I just love being out on the trails and taking in all the beautiful scenery.

  • Ophelia

I have two important people in my life - my best friend Mable and my daughter Penelope. I have a special bond with my daughter, and many people comment on how much we look alike. I love spending time with Penelope and watching her grow, she brings so much joy into my life. Despite being pregnant, I am an avid hiker and love exploring nature with people of all ages. Hiking not only keeps me physically active, but it also allows me to connect with others and appreciate the beauty of the world around us. I am excited for what the future holds for me as a mother and the adventures I will embark on with my growing family.

  • Mable

I am a happy, adventurous goat. I was born and raised as a house goat, but my owners recently decided to let me go to Double S Ranch to live out my best goat life with Ophelia, my best friend. I am beyond excited to explore the trails and go on hikes. Every time the gate opens, I can't help but try to sneak out and explore. Currently, I am eagerly waiting for my babies to be born, but I am already planning all the fun we will have on the trails. I can't wait to feel the wind in my fur and the sun on my back as I roam the beautiful ranch. Living at Double S Ranch is a dream come true for me, and I am grateful for the opportunity to live my life to the fullest.

  • Targaryen

I am a proud member of the Double S Ranch family. I am a goat and I live on the ranch with my mom, Descant, my twin brother, Stark, my sister, Rouge, and my cousin, Marley. I am a strong and adventurous goat, and I love to go on long and difficult hikes. In fact, I am so skilled at hiking that my owners have entrusted me with my own pack to carry supplies on our journeys. I take my role seriously and am constantly learning and improving my skills. I am so great at hiking that my owners often use me for their own personal hikes, a responsibility that I am honored to have. I am proud to be a part of the Double S Ranch family and I am excited for all the new adventures that await me.

  • Stark

I am a proud member of the Double S Ranch family of goats. Alongside my mom, Descant, my twin brother Targaryen, my sister Rouge, and my cousin Marley, I spend my days roaming the beautiful landscapes of the ranch. I have a passion for long and difficult hikes, and I am currently training to become a skilled pack goat. My owners at the Double S Ranch recognize my strength and determination, and often use me for their own personal hikes. I am proud to be a valuable member of the ranch and I am always eager to take on new challenges.

  • Arctic

I am proud to be one of the bucks on this property. While I may not be a breeding buck, I have an important role in protecting our little ones from being bullied by other bucks. I take my job seriously, but when I'm not on guard duty, I love nothing more than getting head scratches and hanging out with the little ones. They bring so much joy and energy to our herd and I enjoy being a playful and gentle presence in their lives. I may not have a fancy title, but I know that my role is just as important in keeping our herd happy and safe.

  • Juno

I am the head goat for the Nigerian Dwarf girls, which means I am the leader of the herd. I have a special job on the farm where I get to do kids parties and go on hikes with children. I love spending time with kids and showing them around the farm. However, in 2023, I had a difficult birth and sadly lost my babies. Due to this traumatic experience, I am no longer able to have babies and am retired from breeding. But that's okay because I have found a new purpose in life. I really enjoy getting loved on during events farm tours. I have also become very attached to my caretakers, who were there for me during my recovery. They showed me exceptional care and I am grateful for their love and support. I may have had a difficult past, but I am now living a happy and fulfilling life on the farm.

*Registered with the American Dairy Goat Association but will not be having offspring so ineligible to be shown.

  • Kauai

I just have to say, I absolutely love going on hikes with people of all ages. There's just something so invigorating about being out in nature and exploring new trails and scenery. One of my favorite hiking buddies is my daughter, Precious. We have such a great time together, bonding and enjoying the great outdoors. However, I am currently taking a break from hiking as I am pregnant. As much as I miss hitting the trails, I know it's important to take care of myself and my little one. But don't worry, as soon as I'm able, I'll be back out there, exploring and enjoying all that nature has to offer.

  • Penelope

I am thrilled to be learning how to hike with my mom, Ophelia, and her best friend, Mable. It's a new adventure for me, and I can't wait to explore the great outdoors with them. My brother, Timmy, is also joining us and I know we will have a blast together. I have to admit, I can be a bit timid at first, but once I get comfortable, I am full of energy and love to have fun. And one thing that always gets me excited is the promise of treats. I absolutely love them and they are the perfect motivation for me to keep going on our hikes. I am so grateful to have such loving and adventurous companions to share this experience with.

  • Rouge

I’m such a Princess! Although I may not have been hiking for very long, I have quickly fallen in love with it. I prefer short hikes and enjoy the company of adults on my journeys. I actually learned to hike later in life, but that hasn't stopped me from pushing myself to take on more challenging hikes. In fact, I am currently working on getting in shape so I can tackle even more difficult trails. I am also in the process of learning how to pack for longer hikes. One of the things I love most about hiking is the opportunity to explore new places and discover hidden gems. But let's not forget about the food! I am a big foodie and love trying out different snacks and meals while on the trail. Hiking truly brings me joy and I can't wait to continue my adventures on foot.

  • Twiggy - For sale

I may seem shy and reserved, but I am just a bit anxious around people. I am currently pregnant and expecting my babies in the spring. Due to my pregnancy, my training has been put on hold, but I am looking forward to practicing my people skills once my little ones are born. I know that with time and patience, I will be able to overcome my nerves and become more comfortable around humans. I can't wait to meet and interact with new people, but for now, I am focusing on being a good mother to my upcoming babies. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me a little better!

*Registered with the American Dairy Goat Association. Comes from high quality lines but needs work on people skills

  • Vincent Van Goat

I am one of the lucky breeding bucks at Double S Ranch. My owners say I am quite the ladies man, and I must admit, I do enjoy the attention from the does. Although I haven't had the chance to produce any babies yet, I am eagerly awaiting the opportunity in 2024. I am confident that I will make strong and healthy offspring, just like my fellow bucks here at the ranch. I take my role as a breeding buck very seriously and can't wait to contribute to the future generations of our herd.

My owners have carefully selected me for my strong build, impressive stature, and gentle temperament. But above all, I am known for my love for the ladies. I am a true Casanova among the goats and take great pride in my ability to woo and charm the does. My owners often say that I am the heartthrob of the ranch, and I couldn't agree more. With my good looks and impeccable bloodlines, I am a valuable asset to the ranch and I am honored to be a part of such a prestigious breeding program.

  • Gaia - For Sale

I'm a resident at the ranch since 2023. I have to admit, humans used to make me quite scared and nervous, but I'm determined to overcome my fear and become more friendly. I'm currently working on building trust with the humans here, and I'm hoping that with their help and patience, I can learn to feel safe and comfortable around them. My favorite thing to do on walks is to hop into the air, it just brings me so much joy and freedom. I'm looking forward to the day when I can trust and hike with humans without a worry in the world.

*Registered with the American Dairy Goat Association - comes from good blood lines

  • Buttermilk

I'm the tiniest goat around. Don't let my size fool you, though. I may be small, but I am mighty! I may not be able to go on those long hikes with the rest of the herd, but that's okay because I have other talents. Like being super cute and cuddly, going to events, and loving on children. Since I won't be having any babies due to my small stature, I'll have even more time to shower you with love and affection. So come on over, give me a pat on the head, and let's be best buds!

  • Dash

I am a resilient goat at Double S Ranch. I am looking forward to the spring when I will be able to resume my hikes after an injury, and spend time with adults. When I first arrived at the ranch in 2023, I was quite scared and wouldn't let anyone come near me. But over time, I have learned to trust and have truly flourished in this environment. I am excited to continue my journey of growth and adventure at Double S Ranch.
